Buzzfare

A bumblebee in a taxi cap ferries ladybirds, ants and snails between leaves, mushrooms and flowers. Your left thumb pushes it up and to the left, your right thumb up and to the right — land gently, dodge wasps, spiders and raindrops and earn honey.

A garden taxi on wings. A passenger waves from a landing spot with the destination number in a speech bubble, and the bee has to fly over, land beside them, take them aboard in its basket and drop them off. They pay in honey: the shorter the wait, the bigger the fare, and a bump-free ride earns a tip.

Flying is the whole art. The left half of the screen pushes the bee up and to the left, the right half up and to the right, both together straight up, and with no touch it sinks. Short taps keep you level or hovering, and you have to land slowly — a hard hit costs a heart. Flying uses nectar, which you top up on the pink flower.

Ten gardens of ten levels each, every one with a new twist: a meadow, a windy orchard, a wasp nest, an old shed with spiders and cobwebs, a rainy garden, a pond with frogs, a thorny rose maze, a firefly night, a storm and the queen's garden. A bot has flown every level first, so each one can be beaten.

Spend honey in the workshop on a bigger tank, springy legs and a little armour with an extra heart. Stars depend on the honey you earn. The game runs in the browser on phones and computers, with nothing to install, and your progress is saved in the browser.

How to play

  • Phone: hold the left half of the screen — the bee flies up and to the left; the right half — up and to the right; both at once — straight up. Let go and it sinks. Short taps give short bursts.
  • Computer: the left and right arrow keys (or A and D); both together or the up arrow — straight up. P pauses.
  • Land gently next to a passenger and they hop in. Fly them to the spot with the number from their bubble. When nectar runs low, land on the pink flower.
